What it is

The Ecoflam ionization probe is a flame-sensing electrode for Ecoflam MAX GAS gas boilers. It sits in the burner flame and supplies the ionization signal the control board uses to confirm the burner has lit and to supervise the flame while it runs. The probe is listed as PROBE MAX GAS 170-250.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler locks out shortly after ignition, despite the burner lighting.
  • Repeated lockouts on start-up with no flame signal registered by the control board.
  • The boiler runs briefly and then shuts down, cycling in and out of lockout.
  • Visible contamination, cracking or distortion of the probe electrode or its ceramic insulator.
  • Flame failure faults that persist after the probe has been cleaned.
