What it is
This is an anode with a sealing O-ring, manufactured by Ariston for the Protech range of unvented hot water cylinders. The anode is a sacrificial component that corrodes in preference to the cylinder wall, protecting the steel vessel from corrosion over its service life. The O-ring seals the anode connection at the cylinder.

- The anode has visibly corroded or reduced in mass when inspected
- Discoloured or rusty water drawn from the hot tap
- A metallic or sulphur-like odour in the hot water supply
- Rumbling or popping noises from the cylinder during heating
- The anode has reached the end of its recommended service interval
