What it is
The Ariston TBS Plus 450 16A is a replacement thermostat supplied by Ariston for its Protech range of wall hung unvented cylinders. It sits in the control circuit and switches the heating element on and off to hold the stored water at the set temperature. The 16A rating matches the load of the immersion heater it controls, and the TBS Plus 450 body is the format used across the ST 50, ST 80 and ST 100 Protech models.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Stored water stays cold even though the immersion heater and its supply are sound.
- The cylinder overheats or the water runs far hotter than the dial setting.
- Temperature swings between hot and cold with no change to the setting.
- The thermostat dial turns without any click or resistance at the switching point.
- The overheat cut-out trips repeatedly and has to be reset.
