What it is
The Ariston Anode (Protech) is a sacrificial cylinder anode used in Ariston unvented and stored hot water cylinders. It is fitted inside the cylinder to protect the internal surface from corrosion, and is consumed over time so requires periodic inspection and replacement. It is listed for use across the Ariston ST Protech and Kairos MACC cylinder ranges.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Rumbling or knocking noises from the cylinder during heating, often caused by scale build-up once the anode is depleted
- Discoloured or cloudy hot water drawn from the cylinder
- A sulphur or rotten-egg smell in the hot water supply
- Visible corrosion or weeping around the anode connection point on the cylinder
- Anode removed on inspection and found to be heavily corroded, pitted or largely consumed
