What it is
The Sime 6319640 is a by-pass valve used in the hydraulic circuit of Sime gas boilers. It maintains a minimum flow through the primary heat exchanger when system demand falls, protecting the appliance from excessive temperature rise and short cycling. It is listed by Sime under gas boiler spares.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler short cycling on heating, with the burner firing and cutting out repeatedly
- Overheating or high temperature lockout during low-demand operation
- Whistling, humming or rattling from the hydraulic area of the boiler
- Poor or uneven heat output across the system despite the pump running
- Water weeping or staining around the by-pass assembly
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the Sime parts list for your boiler
- Check the existing by-pass assembly for the part number marking before removal
- Verify the boiler's hydraulic configuration, as by-pass fitment varies between models
- Inspect associated seals and connections for condition before refitting
