What it is

The SIT gas valve modulating coil is a 24V solenoid coil fitted to the gas valve on a range of Sime boilers. It controls the modulation of gas flow, allowing the appliance to vary burner output rather than running only at fixed rate. The coil is supplied as a blue-bodied SIT component under Sime part number 6242402.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Boiler fails to modulate and runs only at a fixed burner output
  • Flame cuts out shortly after ignition or the boiler cycles on and off repeatedly
  • Gas valve coil shows a burnt or discoloured body, or a smell of overheating
  • Open or short circuit measured across the coil windings
