What it is

The Sime 6221670 is an ignition and ionisation electrode used in Sime gas boilers. It provides the spark that lights the burner and then senses the flame to confirm combustion. It is fitted across a number of Murelle and Brava SLIM HE appliance variants.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler attempts to fire but does not ignite, then goes to lockout
  • No spark is visible at the burner through the sight glass
  • The burner lights briefly and then extinguishes because the flame is not sensed
  • Repeated or intermittent ignition lockout, often worse in damp conditions
  • Visible damage to the electrode: eroded tip, cracked ceramic insulator or a broken lead connection

Before you order

  • Confirm your boiler model and GC number against the fitment list above
  • Inspect the existing electrode for a cracked ceramic body, a worn or bent tip, and a secure lead connection
  • Check the ignition lead and its plug for damage before assuming the electrode alone is at fault
  • Confirm the part number 6221670 matches the number on the component being replaced
