What it is
The Sime 6146720 is a safety thermostat rated at a 102°C cut-out point, supplied as a gas boiler spare. It is fitted to boilers in the Sime Format System range, where it acts as an overheat limit device and interrupts the burner circuit if the water temperature exceeds its set point. The part carries the alternative reference 102CSAFETYSTAT.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler locks out repeatedly without an obvious fault elsewhere in the heating circuit.
- The lockout clears only after the appliance has cooled, then returns once it reaches temperature.
- Continuity across the thermostat terminals does not change as expected when the sensing element is heated or cooled.
- Visible damage, scorching or a loose or corroded terminal on the thermostat body.
- The boiler fires briefly and then shuts down on the overheat limit rather than the normal control thermostat.
