What it is

The Chaffoteaux 61013356 is an 18 litre expansion vessel used in Chaffoteaux DUO boiler installations. It absorbs the volume increase of water as the system heats, limiting pressure rise within the sealed heating circuit. The vessel is charged with air on one side of an internal diaphragm, which separates it from the system water.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Boiler pressure rises sharply when the heating is running and falls again once it cools.
  • System pressure is difficult to maintain and needs frequent topping up.
  • Water is present at the air valve (Schrader valve) on the vessel.
  • The vessel feels heavy or full of water when the system is depressurised.
  • Visible corrosion, blistering or damp patches on the vessel shell.
