What it is

The Chaffoteaux 61010888 is an overheat thermostat rated at 95°C, used as a safety cut-out on the appliance. It monitors boiler temperature and interrupts the burner circuit if the set limit is exceeded, protecting the heat exchanger and surrounding components from overheating. It is listed under thermostats within gas boiler spares.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler locks out repeatedly with no other fault found.
  • The overheat cut-out trips before the system reaches normal operating temperature.
  • The boiler fails to fire after a lockout, even once the appliance has cooled.
  • Visible damage, corrosion or a loose or broken capillary/connection at the thermostat.
  • Continuity testing shows the thermostat open when it should be closed.

Before you order

  • Confirm the boiler model and GC number against the fitment list above.
  • Check the existing thermostat's temperature rating and part number before removal.
  • Isolate the electrical supply and the gas supply before working on the appliance.
  • Verify the fault is the thermostat itself and not a circulation, pump or sensor issue causing the overheat.
