What it is
The by-pass body is a Chaffoteaux hydraulic component fitted within the boiler's water circuit. It maintains a minimum flow through the heat exchanger when system demand falls, protecting the appliance from overheating and excessive temperature differentials. This part is listed for Britony and BAXI Genesis gas boiler families.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler cycling or short-cycling on heating demand
- Overheat lockout or high-limit trips during low-flow conditions
- Poor temperature control across radiators or hot water draw-off
- Visible scale, debris or seizure within the by-pass assembly
- Water weeping from the by-pass body or its seals
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model and, where applicable, the production date range against the fit list
- Check the existing by-pass body part number before removal
- Inspect associated seals and O-rings for reuse or replacement
- Isolate and drain the boiler before fitting
