What it is
The ignition transformer is a Sime component used to generate the high-voltage spark that lights the burner on a range of Sime gas boilers. It supplies the ignition voltage to the spark electrode during a call for heat. This part replaces Sime code 6098305.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No spark at the ignition electrode when the boiler calls for heat
- Boiler repeatedly locks out or fails to ignite
- Intermittent ignition, with the burner lighting only on some attempts
- Visible cracking, swelling or burning on the transformer body
- Spark arcing to earth rather than across the electrode gap
Before you order
- Check your boiler model and GC number against the fit list above
- Compare the existing transformer against Sime code 6098305 or 6098313
- Inspect the ignition electrode and leads, as a faulty electrode can mimic transformer failure
- Confirm the gas variant of your appliance, as LPG and natural gas models are listed separately
