What it is
The Chaffoteaux 60028979 is a gas control knob used on a range of Chaffoteaux gas boilers and multipoint water heaters. It fits onto the gas control spindle and provides the manual adjustment point for the appliance's gas setting. The part supersedes the earlier code 2897900.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The knob is cracked, split or has broken away from its mounting
- The knob spins freely on the gas control spindle without adjusting anything
- The internal splines or flats are worn, so the knob no longer grips the spindle
- The knob has been lost or removed and the gas control cannot be operated by hand
- The knob is loose or wobbles on the spindle when turned
Before you order
- Confirm your appliance model against the fitment list above before ordering
- Check the existing knob against the spindle type on your gas control valve
- Note the superseded code 2897900 in case your appliance documentation lists the older number
- Isolate the gas supply and follow safe working practice before removing or fitting any gas-carrying component
