What it is

Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water from the cylinder despite the programmer calling for heat
- The immersion heater trips the safety cut-out and will not reset
- No continuity or a very high resistance reading across the element terminals
- Discolouration, scorching or burnt wiring at the element head or on the circuit board
- RCD or MCB tripping when the immersion circuit is energised
