What it is

The Alpha air pressure switch, part 6.5629560, is an air proving device fitted to Alpha 240 series boilers. It senses the pressure produced by the combustion fan and confirms to the control board that air is moving through the appliance before the burner is allowed to light. The switch is listed under the pressure switch part group and carries GC number 378-832.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler locks out or fails to fire after the fan has started
  • The fan runs but the burner never lights
  • Intermittent lockouts that clear after a reset and then return
  • Repeated ignition attempts with no flame established
  • The boiler drops out mid-cycle with no change in heating or hot water demand

Before you order

  • Confirm the GC number on the appliance data badge matches 47-532-04 or 47-532-05
  • Compare the switch fitted to the boiler against 6.5629560 and the earlier numbers 6.5627950 and 6.5629561
  • Inspect the sensing tubes and their connections for splits, kinks or blockage before fitting a replacement switch
