What it is

The Alpha main PCB circuit board is the primary control board used across the Alpha 240 and 280 boiler families. It manages the boiler's operating sequence, monitoring inputs from the sensors and switches and driving the fan, gas valve and pump outputs accordingly. This is the main board rather than a secondary or display board, so a failure here will normally stop the boiler from running altogether.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler will not fire or run through its start sequence at all
  • No display, no status indication or a board that is completely dead
  • Repeated lockouts that clear and then return without an obvious external cause
  • Burn marks, scorching, a blown fuse or visible track damage on the board
  • Erratic behaviour such as the fan or pump running when there is no demand

  • Confirm the boiler model and GC number against the compatibility list, as the same board is listed under several 240 and 280 variants
  • Check the part number printed on the existing board and compare it with 6.5628950 and the previous number 6.5640880
  • Note the GC number 343-569 when cross-referencing against Alpha literature
