What it is
The Alpha 6.5624241 is a water hammer arrestor used on Alpha 240 and 280 series gas boilers. It absorbs pressure surges in the water circuit so that sudden valve closure does not transmit shock through the pipework. The component is listed under the catalogue reference CALF/525.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Banging or knocking from the pipework when a tap, valve or float valve shuts
- Audible hammer or thud at the boiler when hot water draw-off stops
- Vibration or judder transmitted along the pipework during normal operation
- Persistent noise that continues after the system pressure and pipework clipping have been checked
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model against the fit list above before ordering
- Check the part number marked on the existing arrestor matches 6.5624241
- Establish that the noise originates at the boiler rather than elsewhere in the system
- Check system pressure and pipework support, as these can produce similar symptoms
