What it is
The Alpha 6.5614721 is a thermocouple for Alpha Ocean Style 80 OF and 80 FF boilers. It sits in the pilot flame and generates a small voltage that holds the gas valve open while the pilot is lit. If the flame goes out, the signal stops and the valve closes to shut off the gas supply.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Pilot lights but goes out as soon as the control knob is released
- Boiler fails to stay lit and locks out repeatedly
- Pilot flame is present but the main burner will not fire
- Intermittent shutdowns during use
- Pilot will not hold at all, even with a healthy-looking flame
Before you order
- Confirm your boiler model and GC number against the fitment list above
- Check the existing thermocouple is a Style FF type
- Isolate the gas and electrical supplies before starting work
- If unsure, check the manufacturer's parts list for your appliance
