What it is

The Alpha pressure relief valve is a safety component fitted to Alpha 240 and 280 series gas boilers. It opens to discharge excess system pressure through a 1/2 inch BSP union connection, protecting the boiler and heating circuit from over-pressurisation. The valve body is brass.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Water weeping or dripping from the valve outlet when the system is at normal pressure
  • Discharge pipe running continuously or staining from repeated blow-off
  • System pressure dropping and needing frequent topping up
  • Scale or debris visible at the valve seat or outlet
