What it is
The Thermowatt 3401609 is a screw-in immersion heater for domestic hot water cylinders, rated at 3kW with a 14" element length and a 1 3/4" threaded boss connection. The sheath is manufactured in Incoloy, which is specified for cylinders where water quality or operating conditions call for a corrosion-resistant element material. It is a cylinder heating element rather than an appliance-specific spare.
Before you order
- Confirm the cylinder boss thread is 1 3/4" — immersion heaters are also produced with other thread sizes that will not interchange.
- Check the cylinder's immersion opening accepts a 14" element length, as the element must sit within the cylinder without fouling.
- Verify the 3kW rating is suitable for the cylinder and the circuit supplying it, and that any existing thermostat or control arrangement is compatible with the installation.
