What it is
The Hamworthy 573409004 is a magnesium sacrificial anode. It is a consumable component fitted so that the magnesium core corrodes in preference to the steel and other wetted metal surfaces around it, leaving those surfaces protected while the anode remains intact. Once the magnesium has been consumed, the anode must be renewed to maintain that protection.
