What it is

The diaphragm is the flexible sensing element inside the pressure switch fitted to Ariston gas boilers. It moves in response to the pressure signal from the fan or flue system, allowing the switch to prove air flow before the boiler is permitted to fire. This component is supplied by Ariston under part number 572170.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler fails to fire even though the fan runs.
  • Repeated lockouts or fault codes relating to air pressure or fan proving.
  • The boiler fires intermittently, cutting out shortly after start-up.
  • The switch does not change state when the fan pressure is applied.
  • Visible splitting, hardening or distortion of the diaphragm when the switch is opened.
