What it is
The Altecnic Dirtmag IQ™ is a magnetic dirt separator for domestic heating systems, supplied here in a 22mm vertical configuration. It removes magnetite and other circulating debris from system water before that debris reaches the boiler or heat emitters. Part number 546802.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Black magnetite or sludge continues to circulate despite the unit being fitted
- Radiators heat unevenly, with cold spots developing at the bottom
- System flow is restricted or circulation becomes noisy
- Radiators need bleeding more often than expected
- Debris is still reaching the boiler or emitters after system cleaning
Before you order
- Confirm the intended installation point is on vertical pipework
- Check the pipework at that point is 22mm
- Verify compatibility against the manufacturer's parts list for your system
- Check there is enough access for servicing and drain-off
