What it is
The Discal DN50 is a dirt and air separator manufactured by Altecnic. It removes circulating debris and entrained air from heating system water before they reach the boiler and other components. This version has welded socket connections rated PN10 and is supplied with insulation.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Persistent gurgling or rushing water noise from the pipework despite repeated venting
- Cold spots or uneven heat across radiators that return after bleeding
- Sludge or black oxide debris collecting in the system and blocking filters or pump impellers
- Boiler overheating, kettling or repeated lockouts linked to air and dirt in the circuit
- Visible leakage, corrosion or a blocked internal element at the separator body
Before you order
- Confirm the pipework is DN50 and that welded socket connections suit the installation
- Check the system operating pressure does not exceed the PN10 rating
- Confirm whether the existing separator is insulated to the same standard
- Verify the separator position and orientation allow access for servicing
