What it is
The PILOT UNIT. - (LPG) is a liquefied petroleum gas pilot assembly supplied by Valor for use across a range of Valor gas appliances. It provides the standing flame that ignites the main burner and, where an oxygen depletion device is fitted, it also holds the sensing probe that shuts the appliance down if the flame is lost. This unit is configured for LPG operation and is not suitable for natural gas appliances.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The pilot flame will not stay lit after the control knob is released
- The pilot flame is weak, yellow, or visibly distorted rather than a steady blue flame
- The appliance fails to ignite the main burner even though the pilot appears to light
- Soot or debris is visible around the pilot assembly and cleaning does not restore reliable lighting
- Repeated lockout or shutdown shortly after the burner starts

- Confirm the appliance is running on LPG, as this pilot unit is not for natural gas installations
- Check the model number on the appliance data badge against the fit list above
- Inspect the existing pilot assembly for damage to the injector, electrode or probe before ordering
- Work on gas appliances must be carried out by a competent, registered engineer
