What it is
A compact hi-lo automatic gas valve manufactured by Honeywell for Hamworthy, carrying part number 533903015 and the Honeywell reference VR4605P2023. It forms part of the VR46 series and controls gas supply and burner modulation on Hamworthy floor standing boilers. The valve is listed as the first (1st) hi-lo automatic valve in the appliance's gas train.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler fails to fire or drops out shortly after ignition
- Repeated lockouts that clear on reset but return
- Unstable or poorly modulated flame, with the burner unable to hold high or low fire
- No gas pressure at the burner despite the boiler calling for heat
- Visible damage, corrosion or a smell of gas around the valve body
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model against the fit list above, as several Purwell and Warmwell variants use different gas train components
- Check the part number and Honeywell reference on the existing valve before ordering
- Confirm whether the appliance requires the hi-lo automatic first valve rather than another position in the gas train
- Work on gas-carrying components must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer
