What it is

The Hamworthy 533901497 is a low pressure gas switch built for Hamworthy gas appliances. It monitors gas pressure within the appliance and signals the control system when pressure falls outside the expected range, allowing the boiler to react safely to a change in gas supply or flow. It is supplied as a Hamworthy Spares item and is used across the Purwell Variheat floor standing range.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The appliance fails to fire and no ignition sequence starts despite a call for heat.
  • The boiler locks out repeatedly, particularly on start-up or after a period of low demand.
  • Operation becomes intermittent, with the burner lighting and dropping out without an obvious pattern.
  • A low gas pressure fault is reported by the appliance controls.
  • The switch shows physical damage, contamination or a sticking actuator when tested.

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as the same switch body can be used in several variants.
  • Check any alternative number stamped on the existing switch, including 2064572, before ordering.
  • On Purwell Variheat floor standing units, inspect the gas pipework and sealing washers around the switch and replace any that are disturbed during removal.
  • Work on gas-carrying components must be carried out by a competent, registered engineer.
