What it is
The Hamworthy 533901441 is an ignition transformer rated at 230/220/120V, used in Hamworthy gas boilers. It generates the high-voltage supply that produces the spark at the ignition electrode during a call for heat. It is a serviceable spare part for the Modumax and Purwell Variheat floor standing ranges.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler reaches the ignition stage but no spark is produced at the electrode.
- Repeated lockouts on start-up with the gas valve and fan running normally.
- A weak, intermittent or irregular spark at the ignition electrode.
- Visible arcing, tracking or burning on the transformer body or its terminals.
- Audible buzzing or clicking from the transformer without ignition following.
Before you order
- Confirm your boiler model against the fit list above.
- Check the voltage rating on the existing transformer matches 230/220/120V.
- Inspect the ignition electrode, lead and its insulation before replacing the transformer, as a damaged lead can mimic transformer failure.
- Isolate the appliance from the electrical supply before carrying out any work.
