What it is
The Hamworthy 531050007 is a thermostat pocket, also listed under references 555012 and 000447. It is a Hamworthy component intended for the Purwell family of floor-standing gas boilers, where it houses the thermostat sensor so it sits in contact with the water being measured. The part is supplied with its clip.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The thermostat reads water temperature inaccurately, causing short cycling or poor control
- The pocket is corroded, scaled or pitted so the sensor no longer seats properly
- The sensor is loose in the pocket because the retaining clip has failed
- Water weeping from around the pocket where it enters the appliance
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model against the fit list for your Purwell appliance
- Check the existing pocket and clip arrangement on the appliance before removal
- Cross-reference the part number 531050007, 555012 or 000447 against the failed component
- Isolate and drain down as required before disturbing any wet-side fitting
