What it is
The LIMIT THERMOSTAT is a Sime safety control for the manufacturer's DEWY, Format and Planet boiler families. It monitors boiler temperature and interrupts the burner circuit if the set limit is exceeded, protecting the appliance from overheating. This part carries Sime part number 5191990.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler locks out repeatedly with an overheat fault
- The appliance shuts down before reaching its normal operating temperature
- The boiler cycles on and off more frequently than usual
- The limit thermostat fails to reset or reads open circuit on test
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model and serial details against the fit list above
- Check the existing thermostat's part number and connections before removal
- Verify the fault is the limit thermostat and not a blocked heat exchanger or circulation issue
- Isolate the electrical supply and gas before any work on the appliance
