What it is

The ELECTRODE - SPARK C/W GASKET & SCREWS is a Potterton spark electrode for Potterton Commercial gas boilers. It forms part of the ignition circuit, providing the spark that lights the burner on the Sirius FS range. The electrode is supplied complete with its mounting gasket and screws.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler fails to ignite and locks out on an ignition attempt
  • No spark is visible at the electrode during the ignition sequence
  • Sparking is intermittent, weak or tracking to earth instead of across the gap
  • The ceramic insulator is cracked, chipped or shows burn or arc marks
  • The electrode tip or its lead connection is corroded, eroded or loose

Before you order

  • Confirm the boiler model is a Potterton Commercial Sirius FS 400 or Sirius FS 525
  • Check the existing electrode and its lead connection to confirm the fault lies with the electrode rather than the ignition lead or ignition board
  • Confirm the mounting gasket and screws supplied with this electrode are suitable for the installation
  • Have the boiler isolated and any residual heat allowed to dissipate before work begins
