What it is

The Potterton 5132153 is a spark generator for Potterton Commercial gas boilers, listed in the manufacturer data as an ANTOSS-ZAG 2V ignitor. It forms part of the boiler's ignition circuit and provides the spark that lights the burner. It is supplied as an ignition unit for the Gold and Sirius appliance ranges listed below.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler goes to lockout on a call for heat without lighting
  • No spark is visible at the ignition electrode when the boiler attempts to fire
  • Repeated ignition failure fault codes are logged
  • Clicking is audible from the ignition circuit but the burner does not light
  • Ignition is intermittent, with the boiler sometimes firing and sometimes not

Before you order

  • Check the appliance model against the fit list above
  • Confirm the part number 5132153 on the existing unit where it is visible
  • Inspect the ignition electrode and its lead, as a fouled electrode or damaged lead can produce the same symptoms
  • Confirm whether the boiler uses a separate ignition electrode that may also need attention
