What it is
The Valor 5122420 is a spark generator, also listed as an igniter unit, used across a wide range of Valor gas fires. It produces the high-voltage spark at the electrode that lights the burner when the appliance is called for heat. The unit is referenced in the Valor range as RV 681 and ATB08.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No spark at the electrode when the fire is switched on
- Audible clicking from the igniter but the burner fails to light
- Intermittent or weak spark, causing the fire to light only on repeated attempts
- Visible damage, scorching or corrosion on the igniter body or its connections
- Fire cuts out shortly after ignition because the burner has not lit reliably
Before you order
- Check the model number on the appliance data badge against the fit list above
- Confirm the part number on the existing igniter unit matches 5122420
- Inspect the electrode, spark lead and connections for damage before replacing the igniter alone
- Isolate the gas and electrical supply before carrying out any work on the appliance
