What it is
The Potterton 5117314 is a cross/PRV assembly supplied complete with its pressure relief valve. It forms part of the water-side safety and pressure control arrangement on Potterton Promax and Powermax store cylinders and the Promax Store 24 HE boiler. The cross section is a pushfit type, allowing it to be fitted to the cylinder pipework without soldering.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water discharging continuously from the pressure relief outlet or tundish
- System pressure dropping repeatedly, or failing to hold after topping up
- Visible weeping, staining or corrosion around the cross assembly or valve body
- Scale or debris build-up causing the valve to seat poorly or stick open
- The valve fails to operate when system pressure rises above its setting
