What it is
The Potterton 5117117 is a 3kW immersion heater kit used on Potterton Powermax and Promax hot water store cylinders and associated HE boiler models. It provides the electrical heating element that heats the stored domestic hot water when the immersion is called upon. The kit is supplied as a complete immersion heater assembly for the listed appliances.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water from the cylinder when the immersion is the only heat source
- The immersion heater trips the consumer unit or RCD when switched on
- Element continuity test reads open circuit across the terminals
- Visible corrosion, scale build-up or a weeping seal at the immersion boss
- Water around the immersion head or a burnt smell from the electrical connections
