What it is

The Main 5110886 is a thermocouple supplied for the Main Multipoint BF range of water heaters. It sits in the pilot flame assembly and generates the small voltage that holds the gas valve open while the pilot is lit. If the thermocouple stops producing that signal, the pilot will not stay alight and the appliance will not fire.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The pilot flame goes out as soon as the control knob is released.
  • The pilot can be held lit by hand but will not stay lit on its own.
  • Repeated lockouts or shutdowns during normal use.
  • The pilot flame lights but the appliance will not fire.
