What it is
The Potterton 5107000 is a valve actuator head used on Potterton Powermax and Promax store cylinders and HE boilers. It drives the valve body to divert water between the heating circuit and the stored hot water cylinder. The head is the motorised control section that sits on top of the valve body.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The valve head does not move when the cylinder or heating demand changes
- Hot water or heating runs continuously, or neither reaches temperature
- The actuator motor buzzes or hums but the valve spindle does not turn
- The head is visibly damaged, cracked or has burnt wiring
- The valve body lever moves freely but the head fails to drive it
