What it is
The immersion sensor 5106289 is a Potterton temperature sensor for the Powermax HE range of gas boilers. It sits in the stored water volume and relays water temperature back to the boiler control, which uses that reading to manage heating and hot water demand. It is a service part rather than a wear item, and is replaced when the sensor itself fails or its reading drifts.
