What it is
The Potterton TPRV (temperature/pressure relief valve) 1/2 inch x 15 is a safety valve used on Potterton Powermax HE and Promax Store appliances. It discharges water if the stored water temperature or system pressure rises above safe limits, protecting the cylinder and boiler from over-pressurisation. It is supplied under Potterton part number 5106095.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or dripping from the discharge pipe with the system at normal temperature and pressure
- Valve does not discharge when the cylinder overheats or system pressure rises
- Scale or debris around the valve seat causing the valve to stick or seat poorly
- Visible corrosion or physical damage to the valve body or outlet
- Repeated discharge that requires manual intervention to stop
