What it is
The Altecnic Hygroscopic Air Vent 1/2 is an automatic air release device manufactured by Altecnic for use on air separation units. Its hygroscopic element responds to the presence of air in the system, venting it while holding back water. The 1/2 connection allows it to be fitted to the matching port on the air separator body.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or dripping from the vent cap instead of air being discharged
- The vent stays wet or shows heavy corrosion, scale or tide marks around the cap
- Air remains in the system after the vent has had time to work — radiators cold at the top, gurgling or noisy circulation
- The vent no longer releases air at all, leaving the separator unable to clear the circuit
- System pressure drops without any other visible leak on the installation
