The Potterton 501790 is a gas valve assembly used across the Potterton Osprey CFL range of floor-standing boilers. It regulates the supply of gas to the burner, opening and closing in step with the appliance's ignition and control sequence. The part is supplied as a complete valve assembly, so the full unit is renewed rather than its internal components.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler fails to light, or locks out with no gas reaching the burner
- The flame drops out shortly after ignition and the appliance shuts down
- Intermittent firing, with the boiler running for short periods before locking out
- The valve does not close off cleanly once demand ends
