What it is
The Baxi 5000721 is a safety valve kit used as the pressure relief valve on a range of Baxi and Potterton gas boilers. It opens to discharge water when system pressure exceeds the set limit, protecting the boiler and heating circuit from over-pressurisation. The valve assembly is referenced as Altecnic CA-312439.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water continually dripping or running from the pressure relief discharge pipe when the system is cold
- Boiler pressure repeatedly rising and falling, or needing frequent topping up
- System pressure climbing towards the safety limit during normal operation
- The valve fails to reseat after discharging, leaving the discharge pipe wet
- Scale or debris visible around the valve seat or outlet
Before you order
- Confirm your boiler model against the fitment list above, as the same part number covers several appliance families
- Check the existing valve reference on the appliance matches Altecnic CA-312439
- Inspect the discharge pipework and expansion vessel, as a failed expansion vessel can cause the valve to discharge
- Verify the system is depressurised and isolated before removal

Fitment listings are a guide, not a guarantee. Plant-room assemblies get modified on site more often than not. Send us the GC number off the data badge and a photo of the existing valve and we will confirm before anything is dispatched.
