What it is
The Main 5000533 is a side insulation panel for the combustion chamber, manufactured from refractory ceramic fibre (RCF). It lines the side of the combustion chamber, protecting the surrounding casing from heat and helping to retain heat within the combustion area. It is used across a number of Main and Potterton gas boiler models.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Visible cracking, crumbling or flaking of the insulation surface
- Discolouration or blackening caused by heat damage
- Insulation material breaking away and falling into the combustion chamber
