Altecnic Lockshield Straight Radiator Valve 1/2"

The Altecnic 1/2" Lockshield Straight Radiator Valve is a straight-pattern radiator valve fitted with a lockshield head, used to regulate flow through an individual radiator and to isolate it from the heating circuit. It forms part of the Altecnic radiator valve range and is normally installed at the return end of the radiator, opposite the hand-wheel or thermostatic valve.

• Weeping or dripping from the spindle when the valve is operated or when the system is hot
• Leak at the valve body, union nut or compression joint, with staining or corrosion around the pipework
• Valve spindle seized or excessively stiff, so flow cannot be adjusted or the radiator cannot be isolated
• Radiator cold or unevenly heated and cannot be balanced, with the valve passing flow in the closed position
• Visible scale, corrosion or pitting on the brass body

• Confirm the valve position uses a straight pattern, not an angled pattern, so the pipework runs line up
• Check the connection size is 1/2" to match the radiator tail and pipework
• Verify a lockshield valve is required at this position rather than a wheelhead or thermostatic valve
• Inspect the existing nut, olive and pipe end for condition before refitting
