What it is
The Potterton 430006 is a 22mm isolating valve identified by its blue handle, used on the central heating return pipework of Potterton gas boilers. It allows the return circuit to be isolated for servicing, draining or component replacement without emptying the whole system. It is listed under isolation valves in the Potterton boiler spares range.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping from the valve spindle when the handle is turned
- The valve seizes and will not turn by hand
- Dripping from the compression nuts that cannot be cured by nipping up
- The valve fails to shut off the return, so the system will not isolate
- Corrosion or scale build-up on the valve body
