It heats the water as it passes through the unit, so its condition directly determines the temperature and flow performance of the shower. This is the element specified for the Edition 2 versions of the Doccia Eureka 1500/230 and 2000/230.

- No hot water at any setting, with the shower running cold
- The element trips the RCD or circuit breaker when the shower is switched on
- Continuity or resistance testing across the element terminals shows an open circuit
- Visible damage, blistering or heavy scale build-up on the element sheath
- Water runs warm rather than hot, or temperature drops sharply as flow increases
