What it is
The Potterton 401656 is a rubber O-ring measuring 15.5mm bore with a 2.65mm cross-section. It is used on the manifold assembly of Potterton gas boilers, where it seals the joint against water or gas leakage. The ring is a service item and is replaced whenever the manifold joint is disturbed or the seal has degraded.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or dripping from the manifold joint
- The O-ring is visibly perished, cracked or split
- The ring has flattened or hardened and no longer sits proud of its groove
- Scale or corrosion deposits on the ring or in the groove
- The joint has been disturbed during servicing and the old seal cannot be reused
