What it is

The Ferroli 3980I070 is an NTC temperature sensor kit used on Ferroli Bluehelix Hitech RRT appliances. The NTC thermistor changes resistance as water temperature changes, allowing the boiler's control board to monitor and regulate heating and domestic hot water temperatures. It is supplied as a kit for service and repair work on the listed models.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Boiler locks out or displays a temperature sensor fault code
  • Erratic or implausible temperature readings on the boiler display
  • Domestic hot water temperature fluctuating or running hot and cold
  • Boiler short cycling or failing to modulate correctly
  • Sensor resistance reading outside the expected range when tested with a multimeter

Before you order

  • Confirm your appliance model against the fit list above before ordering
  • Check the connector type and lead arrangement on the existing sensor match the kit
  • Test the existing sensor's resistance to confirm the fault lies with the sensor rather than the wiring or control board
  • Check whether any seals, clips or fixings required for the repair are already present on the appliance
