What it is
This is Ferroli's gas valve, a Honeywell V4600N unit. It opens to allow gas to flow to the pilot assembly or burner when the control PCB calls for heat, and shuts off when it doesn't.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler fails to ignite or repeatedly locks out on a gas or ignition fault
- Burner flame is weak, unstable or the wrong colour
- Smell of gas near the boiler (stop use and call the Gas Emergency line immediately)
- Boiler cuts out shortly after firing
