What it is

The Altecnic temperature and pressure relief valve is a combined safety device for unvented hot water and heating systems, opening when system pressure or temperature reaches its set limits. This unit is rated at 7 bar and 90°C and carries a 203mm probe for sensing stored water temperature. It is part of the Altecnic TPRV range of boiler and cylinder safety valves.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Water discharging from the relief pipe or tundish when the system is at normal pressure and temperature.
  • Persistent weeping or dripping from the valve outlet that does not stop after the system has cooled and depressurised.
  • System pressure rising beyond normal operating range with no other cause identified.
  • The valve fails to reseat or seal after being manually operated during a service check.
  • Scale or corrosion visible on the valve seat, spindle or probe, preventing correct operation.

Before you order

  • Confirm the pressure and temperature ratings required by the appliance, as the replacement must match the original settings.
  • Check the connection sizes on the appliance pipework against the 3/4 x 22mm connections on this valve.
  • Verify that a 203mm probe is the correct length and will reach the sensing point within the cylinder or vessel.
  • Check the orientation and mounting arrangement of the existing valve so the replacement can be fitted in the same position.
